Course material life cycle

Create course material page

The course material page contains material for the course: Course Information, Pre-course preparation, Schedule, Slides, Exercises, Answers, Literature, Exam, and any material that the #Trainer considers pertinent. The course material page is different from the Course description page (that can be visualized in the Upcoming list of courses).

Depending on the agreement it can be developed by the #Trainer or by the #Manager.

The page can be shared in the course description (Finalize course description) and/or in the email with information to the participants (Send practical information to registered students)

We promote the use of GitHub: Course Page tutorial or a regular Github Repo, but the materials can also be hosted in a OneDrive shared folder (see example of a shared folder for a course that contains the training material here )

Create course materials in GitHub

The #Trainer uploads the course material to a repository like Zenodo, for example see link Under the title Course material.

If the course material is hosted on a github repository, the #Trainer, or anyone with the proper access to the repository, creates a release on github. Then, using a linked zenodo account, they can automatically upload that release on zenodo and have a doi attributed to it. Course released that way should be associated with the “sib-training” zenodo community . The person performing the release ensures that #Trainers and #Helpers are properly mentioned (if possible with their ORCID).
